WELCOME!

In the CLAA, we're not afraid to go against the current of the world and say, "No, girls and boys are not intended for the same work in this life." Nearly all Catholic girls will spend their adult lives as sisters or nuns, praying and working in a convent or wives and mothers praying and working in a home. Praying and working is the future if all women and it should be have the attention of their education.
In modern schools, girls will be taught that they can "be anything they want to be". We don't believe that is true or wise. We believe young ladies should work to become what God intended them to be and to fulfill the role that is theirs in Christian society. We believe that this work requires instruction, study and practice. We cannot assume our daughters will suddenly know how to be wives and mothers when they turn 18.
To address this need in a generation that wants nothing to do with it, we are happy to provide Christian girls with a complete program of studies in the arts that they will need to fulfill their future duties with wisdom, skill and joy. Girls will begin in basic hand sewing and continue through household management and child care in the latter years--all according to a coherent philosophy of Christian womanhood.

Sewing I (Opened in January 2012)
In this course, girls lay the foundation of all future studies with a detailed study of basic hand sewing. The girls will study the basic stitches of hand sewing, cloth-making and the characteristics and uses of different fabrics, measuring and cutting, clothes making and mending. In addition to their practical studies, the girls will meditate on history's best women and cultivate the spirituality by which they pleased God and blessed the world. The course is filled with beautiful imagery and old-fashioned charm that makes it a very pleasant study for young ladies.
"Best sewing course I ever laid eyes on! Instead of just practicing the craft, which you can learn anywhere, Mrs. Michael puts it all in perspective." -Homeschool Mother (US)
"The meditations, which wonderfully put so much about domestic life/duties into a proper perspective, really put this course over the top." - Homeschool Mother (US)

Mrs. Dania Michael
Mrs. Michael is the wife of CLAA director William Michael and mother to nine children. The Michaels live on a 60 acre farm in rural North Carolina, where they produce their own milk, meat, grains, eggs, vegetables and wool while making their own butter, cheese, yogurt, bread, beer and more--while also managing the CLAA. In a very busy household, Mrs. Michael maintains an exemplary life of daily prayer and hard work and has a wealth of tested practical and spiritual wisdom to share with young ladies.
Mrs. Michael grew up with a Christian grandmother who was widowed with a 1 year old daughter in 1954 when her husband was tragically killed in a car accident on Christmas morning. Her grandmother was forced to provide for her daughter and did so by starting a home-based seamstress shop after studying sewing in school and working as a seamstress for some time in a factory. By the time Mrs. Michael was born, her grandmother was the city seamstress in Nutley, NJ and continued as such untily just recently. Dania has always admired her grandmother and appreciated the value of her skills both for her comunity and her own family. Feeling that the practical wisdom her grandmother made so attractive, she decided that creating a practical school for Christian girls would be an excellent way of teaching the knowledge and skill she learned from her grandmother, which nearly all girls are denied today.
