"The task of giving an authentic interpretation
of the Word of God
has been entrusted to
the living, teaching office of the Church alone."

Catechism of the Catholic Church par. 85

Students who complete the Academy's Classical Catechism program continue to study Sacred Scripture through their prep years.  However, serving as a bridge between the two is our Scripture Catechism course.

This short course (18 lessons) is offered to help Catholic students understand the difference between Catholic and Protestant teachings about the Sacred Scriptures.  Catholic students often absorb Protestant ideas such as "Sola Scriptura", complaints about the "Apocrypha", and the role of the Bible that have a negative effect on Catholic faith and life.  This catechism answers the most challenging questions with courage and clarity.

About the Text

For the development of this important course, the Classical Liberal Arts Academy was generously granted permission to use the text of the Catechism of the Bible, written by Rev. John O'Brien, M.A. in 1924 and revised by Fr. Jaime Pazat De Lys in 1997 (who also holds copyrights, 2003).

"Originally written by Father John O'Brien in the 1920s, this is a good Question-and-Answer style catechism."
